Logging In:
If you have problems logging in, for example you log in OK but are instantly
redirected to the login page, here are some possible causes and solutions:
POSSIBLE CAUSE #1
You have not enabled cookies on your computer
Cookies are small files of data. For example, when you log in the forum adds
a small information file to your machine with your details, so that when
you maneuver around the community, you are kept logged in and the community
knows who you are. To set up your computer to allow cookies (for Internet
Explorer):
You are using Internet Explorer 6 and are not allowing third party
cookies
Internet Explorer 6 has additional complications. If you have done the above
and are still having problems and are unable to stay logged in, you may need
to enable third party cookies:
POSSIBLE CAUSE #2
SECURITY SETTINGS: Try this and see if it helps you stay logged in. Go to
your Internet Options and click on 'Security'. After you click in the 'Security'
tab, click on the 'Trusted Sites' icon. Type in: unityville.com
If you are unsure how to do this just follow the instructions below:
At the top of your explorer windows
there is a selection called 'Tools' click it and select 'Internet Options...'
(see image below)
Now click the 'Security' tab and click on the 'Trusted sites' icon (see image)
Select the 'Sites...' button and you should now have a window similar to the one below, just type in the name unityville.com in the window and then hit the 'Add' button and then 'OK'. That's all there is to it. (Note: In the below example the name used is 'breakingup.net'...make sure you type in unityville.com, not breakingup.net).
POSSIBLE CAUSE #3
PROXY SERVERS OR FIREWALL: An additional trouble shooting step you should
take if you use a proxy server or firewall follows.
If you use a proxy server that has a block cookies option (Cookiewall is
one very common type of proxy whose main purpose is just that) try disabling
it temporarily.
If you use the program The Proxomitron,
make sure you have added the following to your allowed cookies.txt file.
[^++].unityville.com/
If you use any type of firewall, especially Norton Personal Firewall/Internet Security (which uses NPF) try disabling it first to see if it it causing your problem, if it is, you will need to correct the settings to allow all cookies in the unityville.com domain space. I do not use it, so I'm unable to give directions how to fix it.
